Dropbox just returned to price competitiveness by dropping the price of its 1TB Pro package to £7.99.
That price matches the equivalent Google Drive offering, which is something the cloud storage specialist has struggled to do in recent times.
Dropbox is also simplifying its service, so that £7.99 Pro offering is the only one available - all lower capacity packages have been removed altogether. So, no more 100GB or 500GB alternatives.
In addition, Dropbox Pro now has a bunch of new features for that lower price.
On the sharing side, it now has passwords for shared links, creating an extra layer of protection. Those shared links can also be set to expire after a time of your choosing. Dropbox Pro will also now let you set view-only permission for your shared folders.
Subscribers can now remotely wipe a lost or stolen smartphone or laptop of all Dropbox files, whilst keeping the core Dropbox files safe and intact.
Existing Pro users don't need to do a thing to make the most of these new features and the additional capacity - Dropbox will automatically update over the next few days.
For normal Dropbox users living off the service's free storage, the paid Pro service is now well worthy of consideration. Before these changes, the premium offering was looking a little pricey next to Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive - even if Dropbox's ubiquity and quality of service has always made it a front runner in the cloud storage space.
