The Samsung Galaxy Alpha could be the first in a new Galaxy A Series, all with a similar premium metal design.
According to a new report, Samsung has a new smartphone line in the works that will be announced in the coming weeks, possibly at IFA 2014.
The upcoming A series hasn’t been officially announced yet, but Sammobile sources suggest the Samsung Galaxy Alpha is the first of this new smartphone range.
Apparently, the series will launch with three devices pitched at varying price points, with model numbers SM-A300, SM-A500 and SM-A700. The SM-A300 will come with a qHD display, while the latter two will have 720p HD panels.
All three phones will take inspiration from the Samsung Galaxy Alpha’s design and will therefore have some metal elements on their bodies.
Another element that will make the A series a little bit different is that they should have higher resolution front-facing cameras, potentially the same as the 3.7-megapixel snapper allegedly coming with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
The supposed plan is for Samsung to launch these devices for the new A series sometime in Q3. It would make sense to do it at IFA, but it’s possible that the South Korean company wants to give the majority of the limelight to the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
The Note 4 is expected to feature a 5.7-inch QHD display running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and a whopping 4GB of RAM.
It is supposed to feature enhanced handwriting recognition and a new fingerprint scanning feature called “Fingerprint Shortcuts”. This latter feature will let you unlock the device and make finger print shortcuts to applications or functions on the phone from the lock screen.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is scheduled for an official unveiling on September 3 at IFA 2014 in Berlin.
