The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will benefit from an integrated fingerprint scanner when unveiled next week, latest reports have suggested.
Whilst this is hardly surprising given the biometric sensor’s recent inclusion on both the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Alpha, it has been suggested that the Note 4 will introduce a range of new fingerprint sensor incorporating features.
Citing an unnamed “credible source,” SamMobile has claimed that the Galaxy Note 4’s fingerprint sensor will allow owners to use their fingers to launch any app.
The new feature, reportedly dubbed ‘Fingerprint Shortcuts’, could also be retrospectively added to the S5 through a software patch. It will allow users to assign specific application launches and functions to swipes of individual fingers.
Leaked Galaxy Note 4 tutorials have seen the phone’s Fingerprint Shortcuts feature detailed in full.
“When you unlock the device with the registered fingers, you can make the finger shortcut to any applications or other functions directly from the lock screen,” the instructions read.
On top of this, your digits could soon replace passwords for web-page sign ins.
A second new fingerprint feature has been teased for the Note 4, with leaks stating: “Sign in to websites that can remember passwords by swiping any of your registered fingers over the home key.”
It has been claimed that both additions will join Samsung’s existing fingerprint scanner features found on the S5, including unlocking the handset and authorising PayPal payments.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is being lined up for a pre-IFA 2014 unveiling on September 3.
Biometric abilities aside, the handset will reportedly be bestowed with a 5.7-inch QHD display, Snapdragon 805 processor and 4GB of RAM.
