Where to buy the Samsung Galaxy Alpha: Pre-orders now open

Samsung Galaxy Alpha pre-orders have officially kicked off, with all manner of retailers lining up to tempt you into splashing out on the device.

The Korean manufacturer’s first metal framed Android phone, the Samsung Galaxy Alpha pairs a mid-range array of specs with a sleek, 6.7mm thick, brushed metal design.

Running a 4.7-inch, 720p HD display alongside a 2.5GHz quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM, the Android 4.4 powered handset also benefits from an integrated heart rate sensor and security improving fingerprint scanner. Despite lacking any microSD expansion options, the phone packs 32GB of internal storage alongside a 12-megapixel primary camera.

Carphone Warehouse

Having been the first retailer to confirm its plans to host the Samsung Galaxy Alpha, Carphone Warehouse is now letting wannabe owners pre-order the device.

With Samsung Galaxy Alpha pre-orders to be delivered on September 12, Carphone Warehouse will offer the handset for free on two year contracts starting from £33 per month.

What's more, Carphone has confirmed it will exclusively offer a blue iteration of the device in the UK.

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha is Samsung’s most chic handset to date and will be attracting a whole new target customer base with this addition to the range,” a Carphone Warehouse spokesperson stated.

“Customers are increasingly viewing smartphones as fashion accessories and are therefore looking for a lifestyle product, not just a handset that has a high technical calibre, so the full metal frame – a first for Samsung – and on-trend metallic colours are a calculated move.”

They added: “We can confirm the Samsung Galaxy Alpha will be available from Carphone Warehouse in all colours, with an exclusive launch on the blue colour option.”

Three

Three has yet to announce any launch plans or tariffs for the Samsung Galaxy Alpha. Despite this, the data-generous network has verbally confirmed to TrustedReviews that it plans to stock the Alpha from launch next month.

Although yet to be confirmed, you can expect the Alpha to feature on Three’s One Plan which bundles all-you-can-eat data with unlimited texts and a bundle of minutes.

EE

With the Samsung Galaxy Alpha packing 4G credentials, EE has unsurprisingly been keen to confirm its plans to stock the device.

Although not currently open, the high-speed network has confirmed that it will let eager consumers pre-order the Alpha ahead of the early September release.

Again with rates yet to be confirmed, EE has teased a few of the exclusive benefits its customers will get with the Alpha. For movie lovers 2 for 1 cinema tickets will be available through EE Film, with roaming calls and texts also included in certain bundles.

Discussing the device, Nicola Shenton, EE’s Head of Device Portfolio, said: “EE’s superfast 4G network is the perfect partner for Samsung’s new flagship device. With powerful performance and a real emphasis on design, Samsung has developed a great new handset that seamlessly combines style and substance.”

Vodafone

Vodafone is another network to have announced plans to stock the Alpha, despite having a lack of launch details or pricing structures to share.

The new Samsung Galaxy Alpha is coming soon to Vodafone UK,” the network told TrustedReviews.

With the blue Alpha exclusive to Carphone Warehouse, Vodafone will off all other Samsung Galaxy Alpha colours, stating: “The Charcoal Black, Dazzling White, Frosted Gold and Sleek Silver versions will all be available."

The network has promised pricing details “in due course”.

O2

Completing the sweep of major UK networks, O2 has also confirmed plans to stock the Samsung Galaxy Alpha.

The retailer has revealed that the handset will be made available on a variety of its ‘Refresh’ plans, meaning those wanting to upgrade early can simply pair off their handset costs and continue with the same contract options.

“O2 will start sales of the newly announce Samsung Galaxy Alpha in September 2014 on its range of O2 Refresh tariffs,” an official O2 spokesperson said.

The network has added: “Pricing and release date will be confirmed in coming weeks.”
