Nintendo is bringing one of its most beloved characters, Link from the Legend of Zelda series, to Mario Kart 8 for Wii U.
According to an official Nintendo UK store listing, an upcoming DLC pack for Mario Kart 8 will feature a bunch of new characters, courses, and karts from Nintendo's non-Mario properties.
One of those new playable characters will be none other than Link, the elfin hero of The Legend of Zelda series. Together with Mario himself, he's the most iconic Nintendo character there is. The two have typically teamed up in the Smash Bros. series, but it's still a relatively rare event.
Additionally, Mario Kart 8 players will be able to race as Animal Crossing's Villager and drive in a kart based on the futuristic hover-car of F-Zero star Blue Falcon.
The first of two new Mario Kart 8 DLC packs will be released in November, and will feature Link alongside Cat Peach, Tanooki Mario (the raccoon-tail outfit from Super Mario Bros. 3), as well as four new vehicles and eight new courses.
There'll be a second DLC pack released for the game in May 2015 (yes, that's quite a wait) with Villager, Dry Bowser, Isabelle, and another batch of four new vehicles and eight new courses.
Nintendo adds that "As a bonus for purchasing both packs - as a bundle or separately - you can get eight different-coloured Yoshis and eight different-coloured Shy Guys that can be used right away."
These new Mario Kart 8 DLC packs will cost £7 each.
