Sony Xperia Z3 Compact hits the United States off contract

Sony has commenced selling its Xperia Z3 Compact device in the United States, just days after the forthcoming availability of the flagship larger device was announced.

The firm is selling the Xperia Z3 Compact through Sony’s official online portals for $529.99, which translates into around £329. The 4.6-inch, 720p handset is now available in black, white, red and green.

Alongside that bright and vibrant screen, which is the same size as the iPhone 6 handset, there’s also a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, clocked at 2.5GHs.

The camera matches that of the Xperia Z3, with 20.7-megapixel photo resolution and the potential to shoot 4K video.

Like its larger sibling the device is also IP65/68 waterproof, meaning it can be submerged for 30 minutes at 1.5m without succumbing to the elements.

The Z3 Compact is also capable of remotely playing Sony PS4 games via the Remote Play feature.

Late last week US carrier Verizon Wireless announced it would soon be carrying a slight variant of the Xperia Z3, known as the Xperia Z3v.

If our US readers want to jump on board with Sony’s top range right now, the Xperia Z3 Compact can be snapped up from the Sony Store.
