Sony Xperia Z3 will be among the first Sony devcies to get Android 5.0
Sony has revealed the full extent of its Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade plans.
The Japanese firm says it will update everyone of its premium Xperia Z smartphones and tablets, which covers some 14 devices.
The roll out will begin in early 2015 with the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 ranges.
The list in full is as follows: Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1S, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact.
Obviously the first to get to suckle on that sweet Lollipop is the Sony Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition, but the rest of the bunch won’t have too wait too much longer.
Sony’s announcement comes after other Android manufacturers revealed their roll-out schedules for Android 5.0.
Motorola has confirmed will offer Android 5.0 on the Moto X (this year’s and last), the Moto G models (including 4G) and the Moto E budget handset. HTC had already promised the HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 will be getting the new OS within 90 days of its arrival.
Other manufacturers like LG are expected to confirm their plans before too long.
Given Apple took another snipe at Android fragmentation during its iPad launch on Friday, Android loyalists will hope the Lollipop roll-out will be the swiftest yet.
