The Nexus 6 release date will be held in November with pre-orders set to open later this month, manufacturer Motorola has confirmed.
With the American smartphone maker having pieced together the Nexus 6 on behalf of Google, the company has revealed the phone is still weeks from hitting retailer’s shelves, although an exact release date is still to be confirmed.
In what is shaping up to be a busy month for the search giant turn tech leader, the Nexus 6 release date will be shortly after the new Nexus 9 tablet goes on sale. A Nexus 9 release date has been confirmed for November 3.
“Nexus 6 will be available for pre-order through the Google Play Store in late October,” an official Motorola spokesperson said in unveiling the device.
Confirming carrier partners will offer the handset “stating in November”, they added: “In all, Nexus 6 will come to 28 countries across Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America starting later this year and as we head into Q1.”
A new rival to the iPhone 6 Plus and Samsung Galaxy Note 4, the Nexus 6 packs a gargantuan 6-inch display alongside a speedy 2.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor and a 13-megapixel OIS enhanced camera.
Alongside a bevy of high-end components will be the new Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.
As with the phone’s exact date of release, a finalised Nexus 6 price is still to be confirmed.
