Does the ‘L’ in Android L stand for Licorice ?

Android

Will a Licorice statue be next on this lawn?

Google’s forthcoming mobile operating system Android L will go by the name Licorice, judging be a series of new hints.

Giovanni Calabrese, the man who designs those massive sculptures of Android versions that sit on Google’s front lawn has been dropping hints left, right and centre over the name for the new version.

On his Google Plus page Calabrese wrote: "I never had a great liking for Licorice, but damn! there are some great flavours out there.”

Earlier, the designer, who is currently traveling back and forth to Google HQ for his latest project, left another not-so cryptic clue.

"Handing out boxes of licorice at the boarding gate. #feellikeoprah #googlebound #googlelawnsculptures,” he wrote previously.

So, unless Google’s pal is bluffing it looks like the next version of the operating system will indeed by Android Licorice. In previous months we’ve heard rumblings that it might be Lemonade or perhaps even Lollipop.

Is this just the latest piece of misinformation from Google before it unveils its latest confectionary-themed OS name?
