Microsoft is reportedly planning to launch a gilded version of the Nokia Lumia 830.
A promo image leaked out of China appears to show a ‘Limited Gold Edition’ of the 2014 smartphone, as spotted by NPU.
According to the leak, the launch for the device will take place on January 8, although details like pricing and rollout remain thin on the ground.
It’s safe to assume however, that China will see the device first, as per the information provided by the promotion image.
The Nokia Lumia 830 launched earlier this year, touting a 5-inch display with a 720 x 1280 resolution.
Also on board was a quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chip, as well as 1GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage.
It also boasted a microSD slot good for a 128GB capacity boost, a 2200mAh battery, and Windows Phone OS.
Snapping potential came courtesy of a 10-megapixel rear-facing shooter, and a front-facing 0.9-megapixel camera to boot.

In our review of the Lumia 830, we praised the device’s good low-light photos, its slim and stylish design, and the bright and accurate screen. Negative points were the lack of HDR mode, poor performance in some games, and strong rivals at the price point.
It’s expected that the gold leather-backed device will proffer the same spec sheet, the only different being the newly glitzy chassis.
The Lumia 830 was £320 at launch, but it’s likely the price tag would see a hike should the ritzy blower ever make it to UK store shelves.
