Parrot, the company famous for its range of AR drones, has revealed a prototype version of a new set of sports headphones packed with tech razzmatazz.

Showcased at CES 2015, the Parrot Zik Sports headphones feature a built in heart-rate monitor, thanks to an in-ear biometric sensor, wireless bluetooth connectivity and active noise cancellation.

Beyond that, there’s also a built in accelerometer to count steps as well as the ability to track vertical oscillation. The latter will enable the wearer to monitor how much time they’re spending on each foot while out running, while also tracking cadence.

All of that data, as well as the HR readings are wirelessly synced back to the companion app, allowing users to monitor everything in real time. The app also syncs up with a host of the top sports tracking apps for a more complete picture.

The prototype headgear is a feather-light 70-grams and are constructed from sweat proof materials. There’s also street mode, which enables runners to head ambient noise while out running, alongside your favourite workout playlist.

Parrot is yet to announce pricing or availability for the Zik Sports buds, but we’d hope to see them sometime in 2015.

Of course, they won’t be Parrot’s first headphones. The Zik 2.0 are the self-proclaimed ‘world’s most advanced headphones’ and feature adaptive noise control, artist presets, and a powerful Parrot Zik app.
