Sony's first Android Wear watch gets a steely new look to rival the Moto 360 and the Apple Watch

After launching the SmartWatch 3 with a more sport-friendly rubber strap, Sony has decided to offer a more elegant alternative.

It's still the same watch in every other way so it's there's the 1.6-inch transflective display, IP68 waterproof body and you still get to benefit from the built-in GPS so you are less reliant on your phone when you go out for a run.

Sony has yet to confirm how much it will cost but has revealed that it will be available to own from February.

Additionally, Sony also announced a modular attachment for the Android Wear watch so users can swap out different 22m watch straps when you want to mix things up.

Sony Smartwatch 3 models will now ship with the GolfShot GPS and iFit Android Wear apps to make the most of the onboard GPS tracking.

In other Sony wearable news, the not so great LifeBand activity tracker now comes in a new more eye-catching blue shade courtesy of fashion designer Roxy while Sony has now opened up the API for its Lifelog app in the hope that developers will be encouraged to support it.
