Selfie-lovers rejoice, Lenovo has just announced a smartphone accessory to improve the lighting on your vanity shots.
Tasked with eradicating the scourge of many a selfie shooter – poor lighting – the Lenovo Xtension Selfie Flash can be attached though a smartphone’s 3.5mm audio jack.
Bestowed with eight diffused LED bulbs, the compact ring flash has been unveiled as part of the Chinese manufacturer’s CES 2015 announcements.
Said to offer more natural colour tones to shots than traditional smartphone flashes, the device has been promised to offer 100 per cent shutter sync.
Although the Xtension is sure to appeal to many, at present this innovative – if slightly depressing – gadget works only with one Lenovo branded handset.
“The Xtension Selfie Flash has been designed specifically for use with the VIBE X2 Pro,” Craig Bond, Lenovo’s Head of Worldwide Product Communications for the Consumer Smartphone division stated.
Despite the limited functionality at launch, Bond has revealed Lenovo is looking to make the accessory compatible with all Android handsets moving forward.
“The plan is to expand its functionality across the range of VIBE phones and possibly other Android devices, however we have no current timeframe in place for that,” he told us.

Although the device’s battery size has yet to be confirmed, Bond revealed: “You will be able to take up to 100 selfies on a single charge.”
He added: “What’s more, it’s feather-light weight and compact size make it ideal to carry in any bag or pocket.”
