Google's new Android ads hint new Nexus devices are close

You wait ages for a new Nexus device...

Google has rolled out three new adverts for its Android operating system, hinting that new Nexus devices are due any day now.

We're expecting the Nexus 9 tablet to touch down as soon as tomorrow, with the Nexus 6 smartphone following soon after. And these ads hint that the rumours may have been on the money...

The first shows a queue of people waiting at a bus stop. One of their phones is ringing. A couple of them check their small mobiles, and see it isn't them. Then the smallest person there whips out a whopping great smartphone and has a chat.

Could this hint that the Nexus 6 does indeed boast a massive 6-inch screen, as the rumours say?

The second ad gives less away. It sees a bunch of figures dancing to 90s r'n'b smash This Is How We Do It, while the third sees similar figures in a Winnebago, nodding their heads to Whoomp There It Is.

The slogans are interesting too. The first ad has the legend: "All kinds of phones for all kinds of folks." All three have the tagline: "Be together. Not the same."

Again, this could refer to the slightly unconventional sizes Google is going for with its new Nexus devices.

The Nexus 9 is rumoured to be made by HTC – which hasn't made a slate PC since 2011's ill-fated HTC Flyer – and to boast an 8.9-inch screen with a resolution of 2,048x1,440 pixels.

We're also expecting news of Android L alongside these two new devices, so stay tuned.
