Addison Lee has just launched a brand new version of its booking app for its minicab service.
The revamped smartphone app is built to run on iOS and Android, and will allow would-be cabbers to summon a taxi as easily as ordering a pizza.
New updates include a simplified experience with a much cleaner UI, ‘intuitive’ apps, and an enhanced address search system.
The app also makes use of SmartEngine API, meaning it can offer a full account, destination, and payments platform, which should result in an easy-peasy process for the passenger.
Bus-shunners can also store their more frequent journeys in the app via the destination history, with an option to switch between personal and work profiles.
Addison Lee has operated a booking app for the past four years, with downloads reaching the 850,000 milestone. Showing the power of a strong mobile service, resultant bookings have turned out revenues upwards of £100m every year.
Addison Lee’s CEO, Liam Griffin, says tech has always been ‘integral to the company’s progression’.
“We were the first private hire company to introduce an SMS bookings system in 2004, the first transport bookings app for smartphones in 2010 and this year, the first to offer free in-car 4G.”
“We’re delighted to unveil our app that will make travelling around London and beyond easier and more efficient than ever before.”
The minicab firm showed off its 4G tech last month, revealing that the LTE service would be offered across its entire 4,800 fleet of London-based cars.
The 4G Wi-Fi network is due to be rolled out over the next year, and will offer download speeds of up to 12Mpbs. Take that, London buses.
