The official F1 2013 release date has been confirmed, with developer Codemasters revealing the Formula 1 themed game will hit retailers on October 4.
Making the announcement in the build-up to this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix, Codemasters has confirmed the latest instalment to the popular F1 franchise will see the game touch down for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC platforms on October 4, days ahead of the Korean GP.
With no Xbox One or PS4 F1 2013 release date planned, earlier this month Steve Hood, Creative Director on the F1 series confirmed the game would not be heading to Nintendo’s Wii U, or the portable PS Vita.
On a potential Wii U release he stated: It’d have to be a very different game just to run.” On Sony’s portable console he added: “It just doesn’t make financial sense.”
F1 2013 was officially confirmed by Codemasters just last week, with the game set to feature a raft of new features and gaming options, including a new F1 Classics Mode which will see gamers take control of iconic racing drivers in classic F1 cars.
Discussing the new gaming mode which will include the likes of Nigel Mansell, David Coulthard and Alain Prost, Hood stated: "It feels like a really different proposition when you’re sitting at the back of the grid in a Classic race.
“The drivers that you’re passing aren’t just drivers one, two, three, four, you know? You’ve got Gerhard Berger in front of you. Mario Andretti is in a Lotus coming alongside. It’s awesome to see stuff like that."
With F1 2013 set to launch in two forms, a standard release and an F1 2013 Classics Edition with bonus content, the game will introduce mid-session saves for the first time.
Celebrating the newly confirmed F1 2013 release date, Codemasters has released a new F1 2013 video, showing off an in-game hot lap of the Hugaroring race track, venue for this weekend’s Hungarian GP.
