The second generation Google Nexus 7 has been made available for pre-order with one major US retailer ahead of its expected official announcement later today.
Major American consumer electronics player Best Buy is currently listing the device - simply known as the Google Nexus 7, like its predecessor - in both 16GB and 32GB iterations.
According to the retailer's website, the 16GB model will cost $229.99, which is $30 more than the equivalent original model (once the 8GB option was ended). Meanwhile, the 32GB model will set US customers back $269.99, which is a $20 hike.
Of course, Google's own prices might be more in line with the originals when the device is officially unveiled tonight.
These Best Buy listings are also interesting because they confirm some of the Google Nexus 7 2.0's specifications. They mention a 7-inch 1920 x 1200 display, which will boost the pixel sharpness to an impressive 323ppi.
We hope for Apple's sake that the iPad mini 2 will have that Retina display after all, because it could be left looking awfully blurry in the next round of the compact tablet wars if not.
The listing also mentions a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 CPU backed by 2GB of RAM, as well as a 5-megapixel camera. The original Google Nexus 7, of course, doesn't feature a rear-facing camera at all.
We also get confirmation that the new Nexus will indeed run on Android 4.3, which is also expected to be revealed at tonight's event. It's kicking off at 5pm UK time, when our few remaining questions will no doubt be answered.
