Apple is set to launch a new MacBook Pro range in October, with the remodelled laptop line to run Haswell chips, latest reports have suggested.
With the iPhone 5S and iPad mini 2 both expected to be officially unveiled around September, it has been claimed Apple could have a bumped autumn product line-up, with unnamed ‘supply chain sources’ being citied in suggesting new MacBook Pro models will be announced in October.
The reports, which have originated out of the China Times, have hinted that an October revision of the MacBook Pro range could see Apple include Haswell chipsets, a move which should help improve battery life on the leading laptop line. A similar move on the MacBook Air range saw the slimline computers almost double their staying power.
As well as giving a welcome battery boost, the move to Haswell internals would also give the new MacBook Pros improved graphics and support for 4K displays. This could prove an important factor if the much mooted Apple TV sets come to fruition.
Reports earlier in the year suggested Apple iTV could feature a 4G display made by LG. At the time supply sources stated the rumoured television set is “likely to support Ultra HD along with voice and motion control functions and internet connectivity.”
They added: “Apple is banking on LG display to be able to mass produce Ultra HD TV panels by the second half of the year. If LG is successful and has ample supply of the technology, Apple may try to release the TV by the end of 2013.”
Apple has yet to announce any plans for a refresh to its MacBook Pro product line. However, an October unveiled would fit with the company’s product cycle which saw the Apple MacBook Pro with Retina display launched last October.
