More images of the Sony i1 Honami have emerged on the internet, offering a couple of interesting new angles on the supposedly 20-megapixel camera phone.
One tipster over at the GadgetHelpline blog provided these snaps, supposedly of a prototype of the forthcoming Sony i1, which is also being referred to by the codename Honami.
These pictures appear to confirm that Sony is sticking with the angular, blocky design of the Sony Xperia Z. It has the same port flaps as the current Sony flagship phone too (minus the 3.5mm headphone jack, which appears to be exposed), suggesting it will have a degree of water and dust resistance.
We also get a glimpse of a large speaker grille on the bottom of the device.
There isn't much of a clue that the Sony i1 Honami houses a beast of a 20-megapixel sensor from its external design. There's no pronounced camera housing as with the Nokia Lumia 1020.
Indeed, the only physical clue that this is a serious camera phone is the presence of a physical camera shutter button on the same side as the chunky silver power button. This is quite a turn-up for a modern Android phone, which tend to rely on virtual shutter buttons.
As stated, this is very much a prototype device, as evidenced by the apparent lack of camera software and resolution settings. But it provides an interesting hint that we could be set to get a strong camera phone with a popular OS that doesn't make an unsightly bulge in our pockets.
