Acer Aspire R13 unveiled with QHD display


The Acer Aspire R13 has been launched at IFA as a QHD convertible laptop and an Intel Haswell CPU.


Acer has unveiled two brand new convertible Windows 8.1 laptops, the Aspire R13 and the Acer Aspire R14.


Acer Aspire R13 Features

The Aspire R13 features a 13.3-inch display protected by Gorilla Glass 3 on both sides. This sit in what Acer calls its Ezel Areo Hinge, which causes it to rotate 180 degrees and be set in six different positions. You can see in it action in the video below.


You’ll get a stunning WQHD touchscreen with a 2560 x 1440p resolution and that is powered by a choice of Intel Core i5 or Intel Core i7 processor. You can opt for a full 1080p HD display if you’re looking for the slightly cheaper option.


The laptop works with the optional Acer Active pen for more flexibility. The R13 supports up to 256 levels or pressure and can be used with Hover Access.


You can opt for a maxiumu 1TB SSD in a RAID-0 configuration and a top 8GB of RAM. It is kitted out with Dolby Digital Plus Home Theatre audio technology and Acer Purified Voice for better video call quality.


Prices for the Aspire R13 start at £699 and it will be available in October.



Acer Aspire R14 Features


Building on the Aspire R13, the Aspire R14 has a 360-defree dual-torque hinge that enables the convertible to transform into four different modes.


It comes with a 1366 x 768p HD display and you can choose from Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 processors. There’s a maximum 12GB of RAM and some come with Nvidia GeForce 820M graphics.


The R14 can be customised also with either a 500GB or 1TB hard drive.


Acer’s Aspire R14 series will be released in October with prices starting at £429.
