Sky has announced its On Demand service saw a 50 per cent rise in requests for streaming and downloading content last year.
The telecoms company revealed the figure at today’s quarterly earnings call, claiming it has now ‘broken its own previous record.’
That’s thanks to a mega 2 billion download and streaming requests throughout 2014, which equates to around 60 requests every single second.
Luke Bradley Jones, Sky’s Director of TV Products, said: “We know people want to watch TV on their terms, which is why we’ve helped over six million customers connect their box to broadband and get access to Sky On Demand.”
“This year we’re adding even more box sets of the shows that everyone’s talking about – giving people the chance to enjoy some of TV’s biggest hits like Fortitude, Broadchurch, and True Detective, ready to watch whenever they want.”

Sky On Demand now boasts 6.5 million customers, with 5.8 million customers registered for the company’s Sky Go mobile TV service.
The company also revealed that its Sky Store revenues were up 90 per cent year-on-year.
