Two of Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon chips have leaked, revealing the newly announced ARM Cortex-A72 architecture.
The info comes courtesy of a leaked spec sheet on Weibo (via GizmoChina), revealing a host of info on the MSM8976 and the MSM8956.
It’s generally assumed that these two chips will land under the easier-to-chew monikers of Snapdragon 618 and Snapdragon 620.
The Snapdragon 618 appears to be running two Cortex-A72 cores clocked at 1.8GHz, with a further four low-power Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.2GHz.
The Snapdragon 620 will be a more powerful octa-core affair, with four Cortex-A72 cores running at 1.8GHz, paired with a further four 1.2GHz Cortex-A53 cores.
Both chips will make use of Adreno 510 graphics, which is revealed to support resolutions of 2560 x 1600 at 60 frames per second.
The chips will also support 21-megapixel camera sensors, 1080p 60 frames per second video decoding, and 1080p 30 frames per second encoding.
Both chips are built using a 28nm manufacturing process, and look likely to debut on some of late 2015’s mid-range handsets.

It’s worth noting that the Snapdragon 620 had already been partially leaked via an outed Qualcom 2015 chipset roadmap.
The roadmap revealed that the Snapdragon 600-series would also see the 625 and 629 variants land this year.
