Activision today announced that Treyarch would be developing this year’s Call of Duty title, due for release in autumn.
The news came courtesy of the Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg, revealing the news via the company’s earnings call (via Polygon).
Treyarch’s previous games in the series include Call of Duty: World at War, Call of Duty: Black Ops, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
Hirshberg described the latter two games as ‘the biggest-selling titles in franchise history.’
It’s also the studio responsible for the much-loved zombie mode, which has become a staple of Call of Duty culture.
“This fall’s game will be Treyarch’s first on the three-year development cycle,” said Hirshberg.
“It will be loaded with innovation, and we’re excited to share more details with our community soon.”

Activision announced the new three-year cycle back in February last year, moving on from the previous two-year cycle.
Sledgehammer Games – creators of the latest title, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare - was added to the developer roster, joining Infinity Ward and, of course, Treyarch.
