Fledgling smartphone maker Honor has revealed it will give consumers the opportunity to decide the price of its latest phone, the Honor Holly.
The unusual publicity stunt will see the Huawei-spin off hand over the pricing decision to wannabe owners, giving those registering their interest in the device the chance to request a price drop.
“We are inviting all our fans to help up shape the pricing of this product,” Lars Weisswange, Honor’s European Executive Vice President said in unveiling the 5-inch phone.
“You can say ‘I want this device to be cheaper’ and we will respond.”
If this sounds too good to be true, well, it is. Obviously.
While consumers will be able to request a cheaper price, this scheme will be heavily limited.
All people registering their interest in the handset will be able to submit a target price for the phone.
On the Holly’s official release date, February 23, the most popular consumer requested pricing will be set and available for the following four days.
Once this initial promotion period is over, the Holly will revert to its original pricing.
Although Honor has yet to formally announce exact pricing for the Honor 6 sibling, the company has told us the device will be offered for “under £100” and “probably between £70 and £90.”

Despite the phone’s minimalist price tag, it is no slouch.
A dedicated rival to the Moto G, the 5-inch handset pairs a modest 1280 x 720p Full HD resolution display with an 8-megapixel rear-mounted camera and a 1.3GHz quad-core processor.
Further Honor Holly specs include a 2-megapixel secondary camera, 1GB of RAM, Google’s Android 4.4 OS skinned with the company’s EMUI 3.0 skin and a 2000mAh Lithium-Ion battery.
