Pebble has announced it has big plans for new hardware in 2015 and says the wearable devices will be packing a brand new user interface.
The smartwatch pioneer will launch a successor to the Pebble and Pebble Steel later this year, which will debut new software designed by some of the WebOS team at LG.
Pebble CEO Erik Migicovsky says the new software will be a big departure from the current iteration and rely less on apps than before.
He told The Verge: "It doesn't look like what we have today, and it doesn't look like what's on your smartphone.”
The new-look Pebble interface could allow the company to differentiate itself from the Android Wear and Apple Watch offerings that threaten its continued prosperity.

There’s no news on the new hardware coming in 2015 as yet, with Migicovsky telling The Verge all will be revealed later this year.
The company did divulge it has racked up a million sales of the pioneering smartwatch, which uses an e-paper display rather than the battery-sapping OLED panels found in other watches.
