The official PS4 TV advert is a bit of fun
Sony has released the first official PS4 TV advert ahead of the console’s launch next month, alongside a dedicated PS4 website.
In preparation for the PS4 release date on November 29 in the UK, Sony has unveiled the official TV advert for its next-generation console.
The live action trailer offers game references from PS4 launch titles Killzone: Shadow Fall and DriveClub and Elder Scrolls Online due in 2014.
With a backdrop of Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day”, the advert is definitely aimed at male hard-core gamers that will get the references and will probably have already pre-ordered their PS4 by now.
However, all this aside, the advert will definitely build the hype around the upcoming PS4 release date next month, which will see the console launch a week later than the Xbox One in the UK.
Sony has also launched a dedicated PS4 website with the first official TV advert. Carrying the bold slogan of “Greatness Awaits”, the site collates any posts with the hastags #PS4 or #GreatnessAwaits on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Anyone using those hashtags could see their posts pop up on the new PS4 site, which is pretty much a bragging page for the as yet unreleased console.
You can also purchase and pre-order the PS4 console, launch titles, PS3 and PS Vita games using the site, but it merely directs you to the Amazon.com holding page.
The PS4 will launch with 15 titles, but a total of 33 games will launch for Sony’s next-gen console before the close of 2013, which should make for a very busy and expensive Christmas period.
In August, Sony revealed over 1 million PS4 pre-orders have been placed across various online and highstreet retailers ahead of the November release dates.
More recently, Sony announced that a PS4 Killzone: Shadow Fall Mega Bundle will be available to those who have already pre-ordered the console. For a £450 price tag, you’ll get an additional PS4 DualShock 4 controller, PlayStation Camera and a copy of the game.
