The latest Android 4.4 KitKat teaser
The official KitKat Twitter account has been teasing the launch of Android 4.4 KitKat and the Google Nexus 5 for October 28.
A duo of tweets posted by @KitKat suggest that the Android 4.4 mobile OS and the Nexus 5 will launch on October 28, although the links are a little tenuous.
Yesterday, October 15, KitKat posted a picture of a dancing Android KitKat robot with the caption:
“Everybody dance now! #AndroidKITKAT”
The line is a reference to a song delightfully called “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now), which is by a band called C C Music Factory. However, the group was originally called The 28th Street Crew, thus providing the first reference to the October 28, if a little farfetched.
The latest tweet from KitKat suggests fans should be looking for the more tenuous links though.
“Sometime you have to look at the signs”, reads today’s tweet.
This accompanies a picture of the words “This is it” written out in KitKat fingers. The phrase is also the name of the Michael Jackson movie, which was released on October 28.
Of course, none of these supposed clues actually give us anything concrete about a Google launch event for its new Android 4.4 KitKat OS and Nexus 5, but it is the first official glimmer of info we’ve had in a while.
KitKat will no doubt keep tweeting these intriguing tweets until it reveals the official launch date.
The October 28 launch is also supported by the fact the Google Nexus 4 was launched on October 29 last year.
Android 4.4 KitKat should introduce some design tweaks and new features over the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS, including Tap and Pay functionality and Cloud Printing.
