Chrome for iOS will soon be battling Siri
Google has announced that its new voice search technology for the Chrome web browser will soon be integrated within the iOS apps.
Just a week after Google announced the improvements at its Google I/O conference, the company integrated voice search into Chrome 27 for desktop and laptop computers.
Next up is the iOS app where it will compete directly with Apple's existing Siri personal assistant on its own turf.
The Chrome app for iPhone and iPad will soon feature a microphone placed tactically just above the keyboard (as you can see above), which users will be able to hit in order to make their commands.
In a post on the official Chrome blog, Google said the new version of the app would be arriving on the App Store "over the coming days."
The company wrote: "You can now speak your searches into the omnibox. Touch the microphone, say your search query aloud and see your results (in some cases spoken back to you), all without typing a single letter."
The update brings Google's knowledge graph into play, which expects users to ask sequential questions in order to provide faster and more relevant answers to queries.
When its launched, the new Chrome for iOS will also give users the option to open links within Chrome and return to the Chrome app with a single tap.
