Samsung has revealed that it will launch its own 55- and 65-inch UHD TVs - also known as 4K - in June of this year.
The company launched its first 4K TV at the CES show in Las Vegas earlier in the year, but it was an impractically sized - not to mention priced - 85-inch model costing upwards of £30,000.
At the time, Samsung promised to follow up by releasing smaller (and larger) UHD TV sets, and now it has - at least in its native South Korea.
Over on the the official Samsung Korea website Samsung has revealed its 55-inch and 65-inch UHD TV models. Both will feature the 'Micro Dimming Ultimate' LED lighting technology found in the 85-inch Samsung S9.
There's no news on pricing for these new 55- and 65-inch 4K models, but you'd have to expect that Samsung will want to be competitive with Sony's own similarly sized 4K efforts. Just last week, Sony revealed that UK customers would be able to pick up a Sony Bravia X9 in June.
The 55-inch Sony Bravia X9 will cost £4,000, while the 65-inch version will cost £6,000. It seems Samsung will lose out on timing, but could it pip Sony on price?
