EA Games has confirmed that Battlefield 4 will launch on the next-generation Xbox One and PS4 consoles.
Battlefield 4 will ship for Xbox One and PS4 when they are released, EA Games has confirmed on the official website.
Powered by the new Frostbite 3 engine, the PS3, PC and Xbox 360 versions have been given an official Battlefield 4 release date of November 1. Seeing as the Xbox One and PS4 still have no firm release date, EA Games has refrained from giving any indication as to when gamers can expect the next-generation editions.
“Blur the line between game and glory in Battlefield 4. With dynamic destructible environments, vehicular combat, and the chaos of all-out-war, Battlefield 4 pushes Xbox One to the edge of gaming technology,” reads the Xbox One Battlefield 4 listing.
“Battlefield 4 is coming to PlayStation 4, offering players a glimpse into the future of interactive entertainment,” reads the PS4 release blurb. “Only in Battlefield can you go through a building instead of around it, or eject from a jet and take out the enemy mid-free fall.”
DICE has announced the first expansion pack for Battlefield 4. Entitled China Rising, anyone who pre-orders the game will receive the expansion for free.
“Fight for dominance across the vast and majestic Chinese mainland in four massive maps, using all-new vehicles and high-tech military equipment”, explains DICE.
Running on DICE’s Frostbite 3 engine Battlefield 4 “delivers the highest standard of immersion in entertainment.” The game will have dynamic maps that have all kinds of destructive elements and game-changing elements controlled by the player and by nature itself.
Frostbite 3 uses Emotion Capture with new ambient and lighting physics that create more dynamic living characters and landscapes, while the audio has been improved to boost the effects from the chaos of warfare down to the smallest breeze.
