A new survey shows that the majority of women would break up with their partner using a smartphone.
According to a new survey by AVG, 50 per cent of women have or would consider ending their relationships via their mobile phone.
The study polled 4,000 women across the world, including 800 UK-based ladies. It revealed that women are more frequently turning to technology to break the bad news to partners.
Of the 50 per cent who admitted they would use their mobiles to end their relationships, those aged 18-25 were the most likely to use their phones with 56 per cent.
The women aged 45-54 were also shown to prefer break ups via mobile devices than the face-to-face option and with 45 per cent admitting such a fact, it means they are not far behind the younger generation.
More interestingly, women in the 25-34 age range would rather break up with someone through Facebook than use their mobiles, with 22 per cent of them saying they would be willing to in the future or had already done so.
With internet dating on the rise in the UK, the 800 British women were asked about the social media research undertaken before going on a date.
Of that 800, 35 per cent admitted they used social media to scope out a potential date ahead of meeting them. Looking just at those aged 18-24 years old that percentage rocketed to 53 per cent.
The women revealed that they looked at a number of social media indicators to make their decisions, including the pictures, friends in common, interests and the comments the potential date made.
Due to this online research, 41 per cent of the UK-based women surveyed admitted they had cancelled a date.
