A new Samsung Galaxy S3 update is on the cards, with leaked details on the handset’s Android 4.2.2 software overhaul suggesting the device will gain a number of Samsung Galaxy S4 features.
Maintaining footing with its big brother, the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Samsung Galaxy S3 update will reportedly see the 2012 released device benefit from the introduction of a number of features that have, until now, been bestowed only on the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S4.
Leaked via SamMobile, the Android 4.2.2 Samsung Galaxy S3 update is said to still be test firmware, although those with such desires can now squeeze the unofficial software release onto their handsets at their own risk.
Kicking things off with a variety of new lockscreen options, including the S4 addition of multiple lockscreens and widgets, the Samsung Galaxy S3 update sees the 4.8-inch handset offer users the chance to add a customisable lockscreen message. Although these additions are far from ground-breaking, they will bring the S3 more in line with the Samsung Galaxy S4 and help slow that inevitable aging process.
Past the lockscreen, and the Samsung Galaxy S3 update sees the handset’s user interface take on a distinctly Galaxy S4 esque aesthetic, with revamped menus and settings tabs giving the device a more modern look.
With the Samsung Galaxy S4 introduced S Voice updates and driving mode making the jump to the Samsung Galaxy S3 via the Android 4.2.2 update, a selection of new screen modes have also been taken directly from the Samsung Galaxy S4.
Although currently unconfirmed, latest reports have suggested that a number of the Samsung Galaxy S4 camera options will also be included in the finalised Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Samsung Galaxy S3 update.
