Sony's had a cloud-based TV streaming service up its sleeve for some time
Sony has announced it will launch its own cloud-based TV streaming service in the US sometime in 2014.
Revealing its long rumoured IPTV service during a CES 2014 press conference and said it will run on a manner of devices when it eventually launches.
The cloud-based TV service will offer both live TV and on-demand content to rival current services like Lovefilm and Netflix. However, Sony’s offering will personalise the content presented according to your viewing habits.
Like with Netflix and other on-demand services, you’ll be able to pause material on one device and then continue watching on another. This also includes connected devices like PS4 and third-party products like an iPad.
Sony hasn’t even got a name for its cloud-based TV streaming service yet, but testing will begin later this year.
SImilar to the newly announced PlayStation Now service, the Sony TV streaming service will be a US exclusive for now, but hopefully it will come to the UK at some point in the future.
