Motorola could finally be set to launch its impressive Moto X flagship phone in Europe on January 14.
The Google-owned company has sent invites out to a launch event being held in London on that date. The invite reads:
"Following the global launch of the Moto G, we would like to invite you to join us on the next step of Motorola’s journey, as we welcome a new addition to the European Motorola family of products."
On the one hand, the Motorola Moto G is a newer device than the Moto X, which launched in the US back in August. Motorola’s mention of a "next step" might seem to preclude a Moto X launch on these grounds.
On the other hand, the Moto X is undoubtedly a much classier phone, with a 4.7-inch 720p AMOLED display, a 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU, and a 10-megapixel camera. It also comes with a range of unique components that make it more spatially aware.
The Moto X is undoubtedly a step forward on purely technological grounds, then.
Motorola has mentioned in the past that it would be bringing a device from the same family as the Moto X to Europe and the UK. Whether that means that the January 14 launch will be a slightly different phone or the exact same one remains to be seen.
One things for sure, after the raving reviews of the Moto X over in the US and the brilliance of the Moto G here in Europe, we’re extremely interested in whatever Motorola has to offer us on January 14.
