The LG G4 will benefit from an all-new UI, and LG has already previewed the upcoming software improvements.

With the eagerly awaited handset set to be formally unveiled later this month, the Korean manufacturer has taken the opportunity to offer up an early look at the phone’s reworked UX 4.0 interface.

Built around Google’s latest Android 5.0 OS, UX 4.0 incorporates a number of Google’s latest ‘Material’ design nuances with a range of new, performance-improving features.

According to LG’s brief description of its UI improvements, the new software is “smarter” than past offerings and features a more “human-centred” design.

Kicking things off one the new features list is improved multitasking capabilities. A Smart Board brings together key information from multiple apps into one widget. This is backed up by improvements to the calendar app which will soon let users drag and drop key dates and events directly from social media accounts.

Joining updates to the weather app – this will now offer up activity suggestions based on the forecast – UX 4.0 will further enhance the camera experiences of LG handset owners.

Partnering improved customisation options via a new ‘Expert’ mode, enhanced Quick Shot features will mean you can capture images even when the screen is locked.

You can check out highlight features of the inbound UX 4.0 in the video teaser below.

Despite teasing its latest software capabilities, LG has failed to officially confirm when this new user experience will be publically available.

With the LG G4 release date pencilled in for April 28, however, we shouldn’t have to wait too long for the new features to land.

It is currently unclear whether or not the software will be available as a downloadable patch for existing LG G3 owners.
