Amazon has announced its Prime Instant Video service is now available on Android tablets.
This means Prime subscribers can now stream Amazon’s 10,000-strong library of movies and TV episodes using Android slates.
Unsurprisingly, Amazon says the new app is only available through its Amazon Appstore. That means you can’t download it through the Google Play store.
If you don’t have the Amazon Appstore, however, then you will need to download that from the Google Play store first.
The move to Android tablets has been a long time coming, with Prime Instant Video already available on smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Xbox, PlayStation, the Fire phone, Fire tablets, iPhone, iPad, and Android mobile phones.
Aside from raw viewing, you’ll also get access to Amazon’s exclusive X-Ray feature, which lets you draw information about movies and TV shows from IMDb onto the screen.
Amazon also says you’ll now be able to browse for content on the Amazon website within the mobile web browser, which is also direct playback friendly.

So what’s actually on Amazon Prime Instant Video? For starters, there’s a bunch of exclusive Amazon properties, including Outlander, Bosch, Black Sails, Vikings, Transparent, and Mozart in the Jungle.
There are also several exclusive shows for children, which include Creative Galaxy, Tumle Leaf, Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street, and Annedroids.
Film buffs will be glad to hear there’s a host of fairly recent movie content on Instant Video too, with Divergent, 12 Years a Slave, Life of Pi, Need for Speed, and Pitch Perfect all available.
