Instagram Color Fade

Instagram has rolled out a pair of new image editing features as it seeks to give users even more control over the look and feel of their filtered photos.

From today on Android and coming soon to iOS, Instagram users will be able to access Color and Fade tools before posting photos.

The Color tool can be used to “hint the highlights or shadows in your photos” enabling the addition of yellow, orange, red, pink, purple, blue, cyan or green flair.

The feature could be used to add more colour to a sunset shot perhaps, hence enhancing the effect of the chosen filter.

Meanwhile, the Fade tool can be utilised to “bring a quiet tone to your photos by softening colors,” the company said in a blog post (via TechCrunch) on Tuesday.

However, Instagram isn’t stopping there. The Facebook-owned company has also added post notifications (available for both iOS and Android today) so users can choose to receive an alert every time one of their favourite accounts posts a snap.

The addition of these editing tools comes following the December creative tools update, which brought five new filters and the chance for users to use a new Adjust tool to alter the perspective of photos.

Instagram started life as an app that allowed users to add filters to their shots with just a single tap.

However, over time the firm has added more and more complex tools into the fray, offering plenty more options for those wishing to spend a little more time perfecting their filtered photos and videos.
