Apple and Disney are butting heads over which channels will be included in Apple’s upcoming TV streaming service, a new report claims.

The discussions reportedly regard how many Disney-owned channels will be offered through the Apple TV streaming platform.

Disney allegedly wants Apple to pick up ‘most, if not all’ of its channels, including ESPN and the Disney Channel, according to a report from The Street.

Apple, meanwhile, is reportedly keen to limit the number of Disney channels included, purportedly in an effort to keep the price down for the streaming service.

The iPhone maker has long been rumoured to be working on building a TV streaming service, although it appears the details are yet to be finalised.

Disney has made it clear that it wants to drive the strongest deal it can get,” a person alleged to have knowledge of the matter was reported as saying.

According to the report, Apple wants to strike a good deal with Disney because it considers several of the company’s TV properties as ‘essential’, particularly amongst young families and young men who are among the most likely to ‘cut the cord’ on traditional broadcast television.

It’s expected that Apple will announce the content partners for the internet-powered video streaming service in June, possibly coinciding with the company’s annual World Wide Developer Conference.

The report suggests that Apple hopes to launch 25 channels initially, and will price the service somewhere between $30 and $40 per month (£20-27).
