With its legions of reviewers, the Yelp local listings app offers one of the best ways to find the perfect restaurant in your area.

Now the firm is expanding its operations to food delivery with an expensive purchase of American company Eat24, which offers online ordering for delivery or pick-up.

The company has paid a whopping $134m (around £87m) for the firm, which has around 20,000 restaurants in 1,5000 cities on its books.

Yelp says (via TechCrunch) it wants expands repertoire to as many as possible of the one million US restaurants it currently lists as possible.

Although Yelp doesn’t mention it in its news release the acquisition opens the door for a potential Eat24 launch in some of the 29 countries in which the firm operates.
