Processing giant Qualcomm appears to have confirmed rumours its Snapdragon 810 chip will not be on the spec sheet for the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 handset.
Recent reports have claimed Samsung is using a custom-build Exynos chip for its next flagship device over overheating concerns surrounding the latest-generation Snapdragon 810.
Speaking at its quarterly earnings call today (via Gigaom), Qualcomm admitted its top mobile chip would not be part of a ‘major customer’s’ latest design refresh.
The firm said it was lowering its profit expectations for the second half of 2015 due to “Expectations that our Snapdragon 810 processor will not be in the upcoming design cycle of a large customer’s flagship device.”
Without confirmation from either party, it seems fair to assume given recent reports that Qualcomm can only mean the Galaxy S6.
Qualcomm has denied the Snapdragon 810 has a problem with overheating, but LG has reportedly threatened to sue the company if the chip causes problems with its forthcoming G Flex 2 handset.
According to speculation earlier this week, Samsung plans to use its in-house Exynos 7420 processor, which according to benchmarking tests revealed on Wednesday will deploy an octa-core architecture based on ARM's A57 and A53 designs.

The Galaxy S6 is likely to be revealed at the MWC 2015 show in Barcelona, which is a little over a month away.
