Facebook has held its hand up and claimed responsibility for this morning's widespread outages, which also affected several related social network services.
This morning, Facebook and Instagram were taken offline for many users across the globe. The Hipchat and Tinder services, which rely on Facebook's infrastructure to operate, were also affected.
Facebook has since moved to assure those worried about a potential security breach.
Worries arose after Lizard Squad appeared to take responsibility for the outages. The hacker group claims to have been behind the recent Xbox Live and PlayStation Network attacks, as well as taking down the Malaysia Airlines website.
A recent post on the group's Twitter account reads "Facebook, Instagram, Tinder, AIM, Hipchat #offline #LizardSquad".
However, a Facebook spokesperson has told the BBC that the issue was caused by changes the company itself had attempted to implement.

"This was not the result of a third-party attack but instead occurred after we introduced a change that affected our configuration systems," Facebook says.
"We moved quickly to fix the problem, and both services are back to 100% for everyone."
All services indeed appear to be back up and running, and it seems as if there will be no lasting effects to your accounts.
