Google has just announced that its Send Money in Gmail service is now available in the UK.
This means that Gmail users can both send and receive cash directly through the desktop interface.
What’s more, recipients of your hard-earned cash won’t need to have a Gmail address to access funds.
So how does it work? First, you’ll need to hover your cursor over the usual attachment button, in the same way you would to send a file.
There’ll be a new £ icon there now though, which will allow you to add an amount you’re willing to send.

Similarly, you can open up a request for money, and send off an invoice-style e-mail that will ask for dosh from recipients.
Once you receive money, you’ll need to make sure you have a Google Wallet account linked to a debit card or bank account.
This means that you can stash funds, spend it on Google’s Play store, or just re-appropriate it directly into your bank.
Users will be able to access the service from today, although Google notes that you need to be at least 18 to make use of Send Money in Gmail.
