Outlook app
Microsoft has launched a new Outlook app for iOS and Android, and it sports a rather familiar look.
The new apps replace the previous web app efforts from Microsoft, and appear to offer a much more powerful and fully featured email management experience.
Indeed, we've seen many of the moves on display here before.
Back at the beginning of December, Microsoft bought the email app Acompli for $200 million. It made perfect sense, Acompli being a well regarded advanced email app aimed at power users, and with uncommon Outlook support.
It's perhaps surprising that Microsoft has been able to put its new acquisition to work in such a short time. It's a lot less surprising that the new Outlook is essentially a rebadged Acompli.
This means that you get advanced features like an integrated calendar, and swipe-based email management tools that let you prioritise and postpone messages. These work across multiple email accounts, including Office 365, Exchange, Outlook.com, iCloud, Gmail and Yahoo! Mail.
Outlook also includes the ability to make easy attachments from multiple cloud storage sources, including OneDrive (of course) and Dropbox.

Other advanced features include a one-click unsubscribe facility, predictive search, and Quick RSVP for those meeting requests (pictured).
Outlook is available now as a final app for iOS on the App Store. It's also available for Android on the Google Play Store, but only as a preview version while Microsoft irons out all the hardware variables.
