The ex-CEO of Opera has just unveiled the preview of a brand new browser targeted at power users.
Called Vivaldi, the Chromium-based browser will make use of quick-fire commands to get as much done in as little time as possible.
Jon von Tetzchner left his position at Opera three years ago, and has since focused his efforts on Vivaldi.
“We are making a browser for our friends,” said von Tetzchner, speaking to TechCrunch. “Vivaldi is for all those people who want more from their browsers.”
So how exactly will Vivaldi make good on its promise to power users? One of the headline tools is Quick Commands, which lets you type commands out rather than using a mouse.
Also featured is an Opera-style Speed Dial that will allow nippy access to bookmarked websites.
Vivaldi will also boast a note-taking feature, and a tab-stacking tool to help add some order to the oft-cluttered taskbar of heavy users.

“There are a lot of browsers available for the crowd that doesn’t want a lot from their browsers,” explained von Tetzchner.
“We are going for the kind of user who spends a lot of time online, keeps a lot of tabs open, and likes to work efficiently with a lot of content.”
The browser has been in the works for the last year-and-a-half, and is still missing a bunch of features right now, namely a bookmarks bar and extension installation.
Regardless, it’s an impressive effort from a team that consists of just 25 employees, and is self-funded by von Tetzchner himself.
