Ubisoft and Microsoft have confirmed that Assassin's Creed Unity will feature four-player co-operative gameplay.
Set in the French Revolution, which Ubisoft calls "one of the most brutal and tempestuous times" in recent history, Assassin's Creed Unity "takes the franchise to unprecedented territory".
Ubisoft says it has "redesigned the fundamental building blocks" of the series to deliver a truly next-generation experience that will see brand new gameplay experiences.
The game will let you "play your own way" and from the looks of the gameplay trailer shown during the E3 2014 Ubisoft conference, you'll be able to accept side-quests and other missions like murder mysteries within your main story missions. You can add this additional content to your Quest log, even when you're hunting down your latest target.
It looks to us that Ubisoft has worked hard to make the game seem more natural, immersive and generally more open world than previous titles, even the latest Assassin's Creed: Black Flag.
As for the four-player co-operative, Unity will let up to four players work in tandem to attack in online multiplayer. The demo shown showcases stealth attacks on major Templar bases, but really focused on open-air violence that was pretty hardcore in our opinion.
