Apple is reportedly in the ‘late testing stage’ as it prepares to launch an updated line of iMac desktop computers.
9to5Mac sources believe the new all-in-ones will contain the high resolution Retina Display technology for the first time.
The desktops, also tipped to boast a similarly slim profile and design language, could feature faster processors and Wi-Fi antennas.
According to the report, they could be launched alongside the Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite update expected sometime in October, alongside a 12-inch Retina MacBook Air and new iPad models.
So far Apple has only packed the Retina Display technology into its specialist MacBook Pro laptops and iOS devices.
The company has been rumoured to have been working on a 5K iMac for quite a while now, so it wouldn’t be a complete surprise.
It would be unlikely the Retina iMacs, if they arrive, would replace the existing models. If previous form is anything to go by, the higher-res models would be available as luxury alternatives?
