The Crew beta hits Xbox One and PS4

Gaming fans looking for some early play time, we have good news; Ubisoft has launched The Crew beta, with codes being issues to PS4 and Xbox One gamers now.

With the closed The Crew beta launching today, September 30, Ubisoft is giving select gamers the chance to try out its upcoming racer a month and a half ahead of launch.

With gamers needing to have registered their interest in the game to be considered for beta access, those handed an early play will sadly not see their progress transferred to the full release.

Describing the preview as a ‘technical beta’ not a ‘marketing beta’, The Crew’s Creative Director, Julian Gerighty has confirmed all gamer progress when the beta wraps up. Although an end date has not been set for the preview, it has been suggested the beta will close its virtual doors this Sunday, October 4.

"All of our betas so far have been technical betas," Gerighty told TheExaminer. "They are not marketing betas. They are not there for anything else except for learning how we can make the experience better when we launch.”

He added: "They are also to get feedback from the community, but it's not a marketing beta. There are lots of functions that probably won't be turned on."

Addressing those handed beta codes, he stated: "Please play it, but it's a technical beta and you shouldn't expect everything to be unlocked and transfer to the full game."

For those not lucky enough to be on The Crew beta list, fret not. The game has been confirmed for a November 11 release date.

As well as hitting PS4 and Xbox One, The Crew will be released for 360 and PC gamers.
