Following the phone’s IFA unveiling, the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge price has been set at a premium £650.
Although Samsung is yet to formally price or date its innovative, curved screened smartphone for release, online retailer Clove has already started taking Galaxy Note Edge pre-orders.
Featuring a high-end specs sheet identical to that of the Galaxy Note 4, the Edge pairs a QHD display and 2.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor with a curved panel which wraps around the right hand edge of the handset.
Samsung’s S-Pen stylus and a 16-megapixel, optical image stabilised rear-mounted camera have also been thrown into the mix.
While a £650 price tag makes the Galaxy Note expensive, given the phone’s mass of high-end components, this is far from extortionate. The standard Note 4 is expected to cost close to £600 SIM-free when it launches next month.
What’s more, with the entry-level iPhone 6 Plus setting wannabe owners back £619, the Note Edge is shaping up to be significantly cheaper than the £789, 128GB capacity Apple handset.
However, despite Clove already offering Note Edge pre-orders in the UK, there is still no guarantee the phone will make it to our humble shores.
Last week a Samsung executive was quoted as stating the Edge will be a ‘limited edition concept’ device. As such, the handset is expected to be struck with limited availability in only select markets. This concept status is also likely to be followed by a seriously high price point.
Putting further doubt into the minds of those considering a Note Edge pre-order, Clove has stated that the phone’s price could still change.
“Official price and availability to be confirmed,” the retailer has warned on its Note Edge pre-order page.
The Edge’s side encompassing display can be customised to offer data and controls unique to your needs. It is capable of offering shortcuts to your most frequented apps as well as weather details, music controls and more.
Having unveiled the phone earlier this month, Samsung has already released the Note Edge SDK in a bid to get developers coming up with new ideas for this futuristic display.
