PlayStation TV coming to the UK this autumn

PlayStation TV will hit the UK this autumn, Sony has confirmed during its E3 2014 press conference.

Having originally been introduced during last year’s Tokyo Games Show as a Japan exclusive, Sony has today revealed that PlayStation TV will be rolled out to new territories later this year.

Discussing the upcoming PlayStation TV expansion, Shawn Layden, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America stated: “We are now preparing to launch this console in the US, Canada and Europe this fall.”

Although an exact UK PlayStation TV release date has yet to be detailed, the ‘fall’ launch window should see the stripped backed console land between September and November.

Converting your TV into a connected gaming and entertainment hub, PlayStation TV will let you stream music, TV and film content direct to the biggest screen in your home, as well as play games through PlayStation Now.

Detailing the hardware offering, Layden stated: “It will give you the ability to play hundreds of titles through PlayStation Now.”

He added: “Almost 1000 games that PlayStation TV users will have access to at launch.”

One such title which will be available from launch is a Disney Infinity tie in.

Although a PlayStation TV UK price has yet to be confirmed, in the US the device will set wannabe owners back $99.

As well as being made available as a standalone device, PlayStation TV will also launch as part of a $139 bundle package which will include a DualShock 3 controller, HDMI cable, 8GB storage card and a copy of the LEGO Movie game.
