The Huawei P8 (or a prototype, perhaps) may have just been given an early debut after images purportedly showing the unreleased handset emerge online.
Erdi Ozuag, a Turkish technology journalist, tweeted a photo of what looks to be the reportedly upcoming smartphone, along with a list of likely specs.
The handset itself sports a white paintjob, an elongated build, and very slim bezels. It’s also stamped with ‘Phone’ branding, and looks to be toting a front-facing camera.
Reportedly on board the device is a 5.2-inch full HD 1080p display, as well as a Huawei-built 64-bit Kirin 930 chip, 3GB of RAM, and a 2600mAh li-ion battery.
The rear-facing camera sensor is tipped to be 13-megapixels, and will reportedly make use of optical image stabilisation.
It’s also expected to run Android 5.0 Lollipop, although this is likely to come wrapped in Huawei’s own OS skin.
So why does it say ‘phone’ at the bottom? Previous Huawei handsets have stuck their name in that spot, so it’s likely damage mitigation should a prototype leak.

You might also be wondering why we’re not calling it the Huawei Ascend P8. That’s because earlier this month we heard rumours that Huawei would be killing off the ‘Ascend' moniker altogether.
The grand brand binning is likely part of an effort to simplify naming protocol to make Huawei tech easier for consumers to get to grips with.
While we’ve got no way of confirming whether this prototype device is the real deal, it’s worth noting that P8 rumours have been on the up lately, which could point to an approaching launch date.
